Call for Resignation of YRDSB Trustee Nancy Elgie for Calling a Black Parent "Nigger"

this is completely unacceptable if by this day and age a representative of the school board can't control themselves and what they say. Then they should be relieved of duty, the education system has no room for bigots, racist or any discriminatory people in roles of representation especially within the education system. This individual needs to reflect and be accountable for their role and should they be removed it's a consequence they have to except. This type of behaviour is not only preventable but also unnessary and zero tolerance means exactly that zero tolerance they need to go. It's really that simple.

Resign today. You are racist and toxic to children.

If we as a society are to thrive and move forward it is vital to shut down every single form of racism as fast as possible. Nancy Elgie must either resign voluntarily or be forced to exit her role on the York Region District School Board. Enough is enough.

YRDSB does not tolerate this behaviour.

I'm a grade 12 YRDSB student and I am utterly disgusted that my school board would support a bigot so publicly. Inclusion is in the board policy, but this sure does speak far more volumes...

Unacceptable behaviour. If she is not fired then you are saying to your students - I tolerate hateful and racist people in yrdsb.

This petition is to show equality and I know it sucks for both the parent and teacher but consequences have got to happen for your actions

It is inappropriate for Elgie to remain in an official capacity now that she has shown her true colours.

This is unacceptable behavior and those individuals involved need to be held accountable. It is 2017 and I refuse to go back in time, we have come to far with social injustice.

Racism has no business in the classroom or the administration of education.

Racism should have no place in education, take racism out of education. I'm thoroughly appalled that Misses Elgie still as a position as an trustee. It would be counterproductive to have an individual who harbours such thing as racism. It would be the best interest for the region of York to have her removed in order to gain back the trust of parents and students in order to bring change and transparency.

Disgusting.

I do not support the continued employment of Nancy Elgie as she does not fit the example of a fair and highly respectable person.
