Even though all incarnations are great (including the original), the Classic 9 was the group that pretty much introduced EWF to the world!

Earth, Wind & Fire is an American and World-Wide institution that was solely founded and created by Maurice White, The well known EWF sounds was the Vision of Maurice, but the audio and visual aspect of the sound was cultivated by many gifted artist, but the delivery and presentation of EWF was developed and cultivated by members of the Classic Nine. Any lifetime achievement award or honor that does not include Maurice or the Classic Nine will not be significantly cherished with distinction and merit.

Please correct this error. Earth Wind and Fire created the soundtrack for my life. There will never be another band with this type of cultural and spiritual influence that transcended race and brought so many people together.

These guys are the originators. If it's one thing I know about the Smithsonian is you all pride yourselves on original artifacts. EWF can not be honored by using second string members as a representation. Follow your own blueprint and stick with original presentations of all artifacts. Thank you.

The classic nine should be acknowledged. Would you have a picture of only 2 members of theJackson Five? No, you would show the whole band.

I’m Philip Bailey first wife of 34 years. I was there and believe this would be unacceptable to not include all the original members. These are the ones that created the music. I feel not only will this dishonor them and Maurice but the true and loyal fans of EWF. Thank you...,

A portrait or any photographs of Earth, Wind & Fire without Maurice White is 100% unacceptable. Without him EWF isn’t a conversation. He is the founder, visionary and creator.

I have loved the music of EWF for decades. I have created this petition and I feel that depicting Earth, Wind & Fire as only the current group is both Unjust and is Untruthful. Smithsonian Portrait Gallery … You MUST include ALL of the wonderful musicians that created the music that we LOVE.
