I may be a minority here but Im not sure it’s EO’s role to provide a moral statement on any situation. If the released statement was too weak as many here have come here to sign and support, should EO have released a statement about the atrocities in Ethiopia the last few years or in Myanmar? Should EO make a statement about cutting off water and denying humanitarian aid in Gaza in defiance of international law? I am personally horrified by Hamas’s attack. It was evil in my view and that may be my view but others may disagree. In forum mindset (formally gestalt), we are taught to speak from our own voice, share our own stories and experiences, not to give advice or tell others what to do or think. A statement on behalf of the organization, vs as as individual leaders on the board, starts down the path of a moral judgment of its membership. I hope all EO’rs give grace to our global board and give fellow EO’rs space to process these emotional situations because some, even in a minority, may not feel the same.

EO, denounce terrorism. Denounce rape and kidnapping. Denounce murder of babies and children. Look evil in its face and denounce it unequivocally. Denounce Hamas.

Peace on earth. Every military person goes into a fight as a nationalistic person fighting for "the good guy's". Nobody is fighting for the "bad guy's". No fight is a good cause. The death of a single person ripples through communities - even worse under these conditions. I don't have a solution to end war on earth. However, as a prior serviceman who served his nation in combat, I can tell you there is no joy in coming back alive (& decorated with medals) after taking lives under the guise of fighting for "the good guy's".

Failure to unequivocally condemn any situation where there is the premeditated killing of the innocents as a direct objective is moral bankruptcy. This is universally true irrespective of politics or historic issues of any nature and no matter your nationality or perceived provocation. If you have a stance on this, state it. If you do not, shame on you. This is not a time for fence sitting - deliberate murder, torture and rape of anyone is ALWAYS unacceptable. You need to say this.
