It was the lowest point of my experience at EO reading the chairman’s message. I hope this petition encourages more thoughtful, informed and proactive conversations followed by action.

EOs original response was a giant disappointment. Incredibly weak and lacking any moral courage. Sad.

I am willing to take part in efforts to help people caught up in this conflict, Israelis, Palestinians, and others.

I am the President of the Rio de Janeiro Chapter, but I am signing this document as part of the human race and part of the Jewish community, not as President. We need use these disgusting actions of Hamas to alert the world that this can happen anywhere as they slaughter people from many countries. They don’t have restraints in order to get to their goals, such as human lives. So they need to be stopped now. And I believe every organization should do everything within its power to help the world became a better one freeing the world of an organization that thinks that killing babies, raping woman and taking hostages is their right to achieve its goals. And one of them is to get rid of every Jew in Israel.

There is the opportunity to be clearer with support, condemnation, and positive next steps every day and if more so in the days ahead when Israel fights back to destroy the infrastructure that enabled these attacks. At that time the board would do well to be reminded that there are no 2 sides to a massacre.

Your statement was not only insulating to Jews and non-Jews alike, but it was the most non-committal vanilla response one could ever formulate. If you’re making as disingenuous statement like that, rather say nothing! By making that statement to a lot of people that don’t understand the weight of the situation and the magnitude of this tragic horror, you pretty much make yourself somewhat complicit. Terror attacks are NEVER okay, and the people responsible don’t get to skate away unaffected!
