Immediately ban open fires and charcoal grills in fire-ravaged El Dorado County

To save our campsites, we need to ditch the campfires!

Please protect the parks and campgrounds during a dangerous time. This benefits the people who live in the area and across the region, as we are all concerned by wildfire activity.

Please ban open fires in El Dorado County and that includes charcoal grills posing a risk to any debris in the area.

American Whitewater has a vested interest in public lands along the South Fork American River. Please support common sense mitigation measures to prevent wildfires including a ban on open fires and charcoal grills through the end of the fire season.

I am absolutely devastated and heartsick over the Caldor Fire. As a homeowner in El Dorado County let’s move forward on this ban and protect our fellow humans, wildlife and the Nature that surrounds us!

I have family in El Dorado County within a mile of HLP, and I regularly visit the American River and HLP. Please work for our safety and the general welfare of the county by prohibiting open fires.

Given the recent years of unprecedented fire activity in California, it is unconscionable that the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors would do anything less than immediately ban all open fires and charcoal grills on all county public and private lands through the end of fire season. The time to act was yesterday, but it’s not too late. Perhaps the Board of Supervisors enjoy our blood red sunsets, the choking smell of smoke, and the accumulation of falling ash from burning nearby fires. Continuing to ignore or take no action on a subject that should have been pushed to the top of their priority list months ago suggests ineptitude and lack of common sense. Are these really the people that are supposed to do what is in the best interests of our community? Even the federal government, itself shackled by bureaucracy and inept players, have the common sense to shut down activities that place our forests, communities, and livelihoods at risk. Fires can be triggered through various mechanisms, many of which we cannot control. However, those that can be controlled, should. Banning all open fires and bar-b-ques should not require a petition. It’s plain common sense. Let’s see if the Board of Supervisors finally have any of this.

Please stop open fires in California! The whole state is burning up!

Resources are so thin. Please do everything you can to support the community from unnecessary catastrophe. Better safe than sorry. No more fires!

We need to reexamine fire usage, a bbq or a campfire is not needed in summer to have a good time outdoor or camping. There are other ways to enjoy outdoors without using fire.

Stop open fires in Eldorado County

Please ban open fires till fire season is over. We have too much to lose.

Please regard this petition seriously. We must make every effort to stop fire hazards at this time.

I am concerned for friends with homes they love in El Dorado county. Prevention is the solution here, not apologies after a fire has destroyed homes and lives.

Fires don't have a place in ElDoCo this time of year. For everyone's sake please ban them in line with other agency policies.
