they finally listened and backed down on the tax hikes. this is a huge win for everyone in town who spoke up and refused to just accept those numbers. keep an eye on the budget meetings moving forward because we need to stay sharp.

Please Tell The Town Of Dryden Board How You Really Feel About Double Digit Property Tax Rate Increases

For the second straight year in a row the Dryden Town Board is planning to increase our Property Tax rate in the double digit range for the 2016 tax season. In 2015 most people saw close to a thirteen percent increase in their tax rate. Currently the Board is looking at a 12 to 17 percent rate increase for 2016. They have talked of more of the same in 2017. Most Board members believe that a majority of Dryden Residents don't mind paying more property taxes and have even been quoted in local newspapers stating so. We believe this is NOT the case. Please complete the following to be presented to the Dryden New York Town Board to show them how you really feel.
UPDATE: On November 5th the Town Board voted to raise your tax bill. They voted and approved the budget without having an exact figure on how it will impact your bill. This will be determined at a later date. However once you factor in your increase in Assessment of your property, your tax bill will be going up in the 14% range. Tell them how you really feel by completing this petition.

im still getting emails from neighbors who are just as frustrated as we are about these hikes. its honestly wild that the board thinks we are all fine with paying more when so many of us are struggling to keep up.

im honestly blown away by how many of you are stepping up to push back against these hikes. it feels like people are finally waking up to what this board is doing and its clear we arent going to just sit back and take it.

My middle class family moved to this area of the county for it's affordability compared to Ithaca, raising taxes will render it unaffordable and we may have to consider selling and moving
How can you justify these kind of increases? I have not had any raise in my salary for a number of years. My wife and I are talking about how we will have to move out of the state because we won't be able to afford living here. THANKS A LOT!!!
Double digit taxes increases have to stop. We do not need a planning department as big as it is. Infrastructure for water and sewer upgrades to attract business so they can help lessen the tax burden.
It was apparent to anyone sitting in the audience at the Town Board Meeting that most of our elected officials didn't care about public opinion. They didn't have the facts straight, and they couldn't answer a question about the tax % increase. However; they passed this budget. How disheartening!
Please don't increase my property taxes. I'm a 30 year old who's owned my first home for just over a year, still paying off student loans and a car payment. The last thing I need is a higher tax burden to keep me down.
I definenetly don't like the idea of a increase in are taxes.
This Town Board is going to continue to force good people out and turn this Town into something not so good

We are retired and moved out of double digit tax increases in NJ to find are selves in the same boat up here. I thought there was a cap on tax increases
