Support Responsible Development - Deny the Ascension Heights Project

I do not feel the Ascension Heights development is in alignment with the declared intents of the County of San Mateo in its General Plan. In the General Plan, the County declares it will protect and enhance the natural visual quality of the County, minimize adverse visual impacts of developments, minimize the removal of visually significant trees and vegetation, promote aesthetically pleasing development, promote a balance of development and open space, and protect the health and safety of its residents. The Ascension Heights development does not meet these goals.

The proposed Ascension Heights Project still proposes 19 lots that would require extensive grading, resulting in medically hazardous air pollutant levels, particularly for the high number of elders and small children in the existing neighborhood. It is evident to the public that the Commissioners had already signal at the last meeting to reject the proposal, but the developer used a procedural excuse to convince the staff to postpone the official vote. Since the major issues with the proposal still exist, please do not let this procedural postponement change your mind. Please reject this proposal at the upcoming meeting.

This is our neighborhood, and we reject this irresponsible development being foisted upon us -- a development that threatens our safety, health and the quality of our lives , with little or no accountability for future problems.

We continue to be against this aggressive, dense land development project- we are not against construction in that area but need to have responsible plan with fewer homes that enhance the neighborhood. We are grateful for your continuing response to the concerns of our neighborhood and hope that a resolution can be achieved.

I oppose any construction on the hillside on Ascension/ Belaire drive

All the issues have been discussed repeatedly at all the previous meetings. His (the developer) project is at a scale (number of homes) that is beyond reasonable . The amount of time he projects to complete this massively oversized project is bordering on ludicrous. And the amount of air pollution with diesel engines involved is argueably far beyond what any governmental agency concerned about the health and welfare of its citizens should allow.

Please protect our county from reckless development.

I'm completely opposed to the Ascension hill development. Please represent my opinion at the meeting.

The design and scope of the proposed development does not fit into the existing neighborhood. The development is fraught with problems and so far the County has been unsuccessful in getting the developer to adequately address the many issues the neighbors have brought to its attention.

Living on Ascension drive with small children. Concerned about pollution and traffic.
