Why on earth would you displace nearly 400 students (with numbers that continue to grow) that live extremely close to the only school that can take in that amount of children. Also with the socio- economic status that NEED these facilities. From a walkable school, to the heavily used Boys & Girls Club, enrichment classes, and the SJC Sports Park (Which MANY of our children participate in after school AYSO for soccer. These programs give a safe, affordable, environment to meet the needs to families in THIS area. No other location could offer this. We cannot challenge these families any more, nor should displace these children.

We are a Del Obispo & Marco family with both my husband & I as alumni of both. We grew up in the neighborhood across the street from Del Obispo & walked to & from school with all our neighborhood & school friends from K-8th grade. We specifically moved back into this same neighborhood across the street when our 3 children became elementary school age so that they to could share in this very special childhood experience. My husband & I find so much joy in walking our children to school every morning, saying hi to the teachers that are still there from when we went there years ago who now are teaching our children. It is dream come true for us everyday. Our story is one of so many more Del Obispo families as my children are now in classes with the children of my own Del Obispo elementary school friends. That too is a very special experience. This year of students especially are filled with 2nd generation Del Obispo students. I don't think this is something many other school communities share. Alumni purposely moving back into an area specifically to raise their children to go to a school that they went to themselves as children. The children, parents as well as the teachers of Del Obispo are more than colleagues & peers we are neighbors , friends & family....please don't take this away from us!

The neighborhood relies on Del Obispo and all of its coordinating programs. Think of the transportation issues that would cause to relocate our kids. How could The Boys and Girls Club drive so many students to their facility with a 10 passenger van? Also the prople that would be driving to our neighborhood would add more traffic and safety concerns. They might not have the support of the local community to look out for one another. Animosity toward a new school which forced out its local kids could be created. Perhaps a newer school that didn't have such an established following would be a better choice. Some of us parents went to Del Obispo and Marco Forester as children and there is a great pride in sharing this with our own kids. For teachers and staff as well. Charter members should follow their charter school to the best possible location. One of the reasons parents choose a school outside of their public school is for their teaching techniques. Location should not play a part. Keep Del Obispo for their local community. With so much development around us there is surely a better alternative for a big charter school.
