A new school for Dartford, Gravesend, Sevenoaks, Swanley and Tonbridge!

There is significant need for a dyslexic and associated SpLD friendly provision in the Tonbridge and Sevenoaks area. My son has a number of learning challenges including dyslexia and his school is not resourced or have enough teachers taught and with hands on experience of SpLDs.

I have had to fight tooth and nil to get my daughters needs supported. Despite Secondary school claiming they were dyslexic friendly, it took over 2yrs for them to show any understanding, with several senior teachers still claiming she just had to work harder. Things have improved and interventions now provided but most teachers still don't understand or make the allowances needed for my daughter to learn to her full potential. Very sad as she is now in Yr10 and finding things difficult. My second child needs a secondary school placement in September and also has dyslexia and I would have loved to have applied to Da Vinci School which in my view is desperately needed.

There is a need for a school like this! As normal state schools dont have the funding or the time to give the extra help to children with Dyslexia that they need. I would like my daughter to go here.

Definitely there is a need! I still don’t think dyslexia is understood well. Let’s stop dyslexic children being made to feel inferior as they find school harder than other children

My daughter and eldest Granddaughter have dyslexia. This school is so crucially important to provide an equal platform of education for dyslexic children in Kent.

A fantastic idea to solve a real problem. In a county where the focus seems to be on racing to the grades, a different approach is truly refreshing and really needed!

My son is 7yeats old and cannot read or write. He has a personalised plan but Bromley Council no longer recognise dyslexia this does not mean it doesn’t exist (shame on them)! This school is needed and hopefully will also serve children in West Wickham so my son has somewhere relevant to progress to.

As a mother of a year 6 child with diagnosed dyslexia, who is struggling in main stream to complete his SAT,s I can confirm the desperate need for children to be understood to enable their potential to be communicated and help the frustrations and demotivation

A school like this is exactly what is needed for pupils that need mainstream provision but with specialist staff.

I only wish I had, had the opportunity to attend when I was at at a main stream school that did not cater for my needs.

This is a much needed, inclusive provision for our area. The potential to have a ground breaking school is both exciting for parents and pupils alike.
