This is a formal request for the Long Beach FSDO to appoint at least one or two more Designated Pilot Examiners to improve the service available to the service area's pilots and flight schools. Currently there is a minimum 3-4 week delay in scheduling availability of checkrides. Many students are forced to seek services from other FSDO's but they are under served as well. These delays and travel to other regions are a hardship on the service area pilots. Without at least one new DPE more schools will have to rely on FAA Inspectors for checkrides that will result in an increased workload on the inspectors.
