Petition to Save the Maryfield Tram Depot, Dundee
When we were searching for suitable permanent premises one location kept on being raised time-after-time. Built as a tram shed in the early 1900s and later used as a bus depot it has been empty for some considerable time and is just crying out for restoration and a new use.
The Maryfield Tram Depot is right in the heart of the Stobswell area between Stobsmuir Park and Morgan Academy and restored to its former glory it would make ideal premises to display our local transport history.
Right in the heart of Dundee's Stobswell area, our proposed home would not only re-use a landmark building but allow visitors from a wide area to see and enjoy the transport heritage of Tayside and beyond.
The listed building is currently occupied by Scottish Water having been given to them by the local council some years ago. A huge amount of fundraising would be necessary to bring the building back to life so please help us make our dream come true.
In March 2010 the Maryfield Tram Depot (Former) was moved to the "Buildings At Risk" Register for Scotland due to its deteriorating condition.
A few weeks ago, bids were closed for the Depot and Scottish Water are now assessing offers- one of these offers are ours.
