Final supporters
The local community has backed an appeal to bring additional Post Office services back to Coulby Newham.
Currently only a local Post Office with limited services, staff and customers at the Parkway Shopping Centre in Middlesbrough are campaigning to make it a main Post Office, which would result in additional amenities including:
passport services,
identity checks
DVLA services.
Oversized International Parcels
Travel Insurance & Travel Money Cards
Current & Savings accounts
Local Councillors have also shown their support to the centre, including Janice Brunton Dobson. “Not only are the additional services a requirement for the local community, but we have to consider the impact on other local businesses in the Parkway Centre. The Parkway continues to grow it’s number of visitors with the footfall growing year on year and as the largest centre outside of Middlesbrough Town the Parkway warrants a Main Post Office. As the Executive Member for Learning and Skills I would hope that more staff would be employed as a result of gaining main post office status added Janice.

This is my local post office and i would apprichiate the upgrade as i deal with cars and would find it so useful to my business
This would help a lot of people including myself. The closest banks are in the town and isn’t so easy to get to for most people.
I strongly support this upgrade application. The Post Office in Coulby Newham supplies a large part of south Middlesbrough and is an essential resource to many of my constituents. Coulby and nearby Marton and Nunthorpe have many older residents, all of whom would hugely appreciate having these services available to them locally rather than having to go to the town centre.
We always had a post office in The Parkway Shopping Centre and it was a great loss when it closed, especially to the older generation. It's really good. to have one back again, but would be even better if we had all the amenities up and running and make it into a Main Post Office. The area is calling out for one!
The post office in Stokesley offers these services but must serve a far smaller area in terms of population. I'm not sure if Marton post office does but the car park there holds about 8 cars as opposed to the 800 at the Parkway Centre.
