- It has been well over 30 years since Chico State dropped their wrestling program. It's time for Chico State to begin the conversation again and look for a way to bring this amazing sport back to the 530! I believe with support from all of you and the Chico State community, we can find a solution and begin the process of reestablishing the wrestling program that has had great success in the past. I understand the sport wasn't as popular back in the 80s and that's why it was dropped, but the sport is growing more than ever now. Studies have shown there is a very high positive correlation with student athletes that participate in wrestling in comparison with graduation success. Not only can we make history for the school athletically, but we can also boost the graduation success. Having it back at Chico State, I see a great possibility of success in the future. Walking around the campus as a first year transfer student, I have seen many familiar talented faces from both high school and college wrestling. After talking to them, all of them said if Chico had a wrestling program they would be more than happy to be involved. Please, sign this petition with your first and last name, and then share this with all of your friends and clubs to spread the word! It would really mean a lot.
- I would love to get back on the mat before its too late and I graduate and go on to medical school. I dont want to just graduate from this great school, I want to leave something here and make history for the school. With the support of the community, I believe Chico State can relive a long lasting tradition. Together we can find a way to bring this amazing sport back to Chico State for its students, community, alumni, and many others. This sport is not like most, it requires an immense amount of both mental and physical toughness and mental determination. Like the great legend himself said before, "Once you've wrestled, everything else in life is easy" - Dan Gable.

This support could potentially lead to the creation of other programs, not only in the Chico Community but other universities as well. It begins with us. The signers of this petition believe that wrestling provides athletic excellence, discipline, confidence, and overall enriches the lives of the student athletes that participate in the sport.
