This petition is an effort of the Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard Committee, a grassroots group of community members who have organized themselves around this street renaming effort. The ultimate purpose of this group is not only to rename a Portland street, but to draw attention to the legacy of one of our country\'s greatest leaders and to create a concrete reminder that the struggle for civil rights for all people still continues today.
