We should be able to make our own decision. I don't see how putting it to a referendum changes anything. The residents will vote or they won't. To disallow the vote seems ludicrous.

Please keep the budget vote in April. this is an important issue which should be separate from the general election.

The Board of Education seems not to care what the public thinks.

I don't want anyone to take away my right to vote on this budget or anything! Full disclosure needed here!

We just moved to chatham for the same reasons that many others choose chatham and call it home. I would like to keep the residents voting rights on education budget. And want to understand why this proposed change to take away rights and why now!? Need to give public full disclosure of the proposed change. Cite for democracy! Thanks!

At the very least the board should fully explain the rational and the timing of this decision. Simply saying other districts are doing this is not a reason or even excuse.

BOE needs to respect & honor the wishes of its residents. I have since 1971 voted 'yes' on every financial wishes of the BOE, but if our respectful request is denied -- 'yeses' will be hard to come by in the future.

I don't understand this conversation, to be honest. I am signing assuming that my signature states that I believe the annual BOE budget should be voted on by the tax payers each and every year. DB

This is an attempt to circumvent the right of voters to be heard.

BOE needs to hear what we Chathamites have voted on and not change venue to suit their wants. We the people voted. Very unethical for them to try and make this change.

I wish for the residents of Chatham to be able to vote on their school budget. We do not wish the issue to be arbitrarily decided by our Boe against popular vote!

This really is the height of arrogance and dirty local politics. Hope it's stopped.

I am not surprised with the lack of transparency that goes on in all levels of government.
