Perhaps the regulations should b looking at equipment used in these centers, i have recently walked out of a facility that had no EKG pads, & non functioning machine. If practitioners, be it CRNA or MDA, work with sub par equipment, they should b regulated!

Take those cases and do some research on the cause of death. It’s poor surgeon/assistant skills and poor pt selection NOT a nurse anesthetist problem. CRNA’s are safe, vigilant and cost effective!

Thanks to the CRNA community for the quick response...I will be releasing with the help of Dr. Christina Vera a more detailed description of our petition.

CRNAS have been proven to give safe efficient anesthesia care over and over again. We are able to practice independently and should be able to do so nationwide

CRNAs are safe and don’t need anesthesiologists supervision

Deaths are not the result of Nurse Anesthetist practices. Many factors are involved per case.

There is no associated increase in mortality when a crna works alone with a surgeon, when a crna and anesthesiologist work together or when an anesthesiologist works alone with a surgeon. This simply increases healthcare costs and limits access with zero improvement in safety.

The problem is not anesthesia. The issue is with the surgeons’ technique

Several studies will demonstrate that CRNAs are as safe as any other independent anesthesia provider. Let’s use factual information and avoid politicizing patient care.

CRNAs are trained to be solo anesthesia providers and shouldn't be limited by another anesthesia profession. Especially a profession that benefits directly by limiting CRNA practice in the outpatient setting. Nurse anesthetists provide safe anesthesia.

Various legitimate studies have demonstrated no difference in patient safety or outcomes when anesthesia care is rendered by CRNAs as sole providers in comparison with their counterparts. Our role and the importance of our contribution to the healthcare field seems to constantly be under scrutiny and attack thanks to the heavy lobbying from other parties concerned with alternative motives. I urge you to please consider the facts and not be persuaded otherwise.

I urge you to kill this bill restricting CRNA’s office based practice in the state of FL. Thank you.

The deaths that have occurred at some of these centers have been related to poor patient selection and have not been related to any airway or anesthesia difficulties. Additionally, the majority of these cases have occurred at the hands of poorly trained aggressive surgeons.

Studies have shown that safety records of solo CRNAS and those of physician anesthesiologists are comparable. What this means is that CRNAs are equally as safe. Many facilities, including VA hospitals around the country use strictly CRNAs and do not use physician anesthesiologists. The requirement to use anesthesiologists in every center is unfounded, unnecessary, and does not increase patient safety.

CRNA s are highly skilled anesthesia providers capable of maintaining patient safety and providing the best care possible in an office based practice .

This cases were not Anesthesia complications. CRNA provide safe and effective Anesthisia in many office base centers.
