In addition to a modernized building with exciting academies, a top-notch middle school is planned for the campus, giving northern Ward 4 families a strong feeder pattern from preK through high school. If we believe in public education, we need to make sure the modernization is funded.

Modernized buildings increase the likelihood that neighborhood parents will send their kids to neighborhood schools. With the new STEM academy coming to Coolidge in 2017, it makes sense to update the building to better reflect the usage students need today and to better utilize the space.

My daughter graduated from Coolidge, and I think the school has been ignored for too long. It's in a great location, has many young people to serve in the neighborhood , but has had very little support from the neighborhood.
