I am very much disappointed that Ramaz, a school that claims to be open minded, would react this way as soon as thru see a name that is Arabic. This is simply racism., and I don't o

There are two sides to every story, and we need to keep our minds open.

Allowing him to come would not be an endorsement of the professor's views, but of the value of free discussion.

Yashar Koach! Opening ourselves up to diverse perspectives is fundamentally important to our growth as Jews and as human beings. Props to those of you at Ramaz who are demonstrating immense maturity by looking to bring this Professor. Let us know when you graduate so you can be involved with Open Hillel!

I would be proud to send my daughters to a school that was willing to listen to the voice of its own student body in favor of dialogue.

I am proud of the students at Ramaz for their insistence on an open, inclusive, and critical Jewish education. I am also proud to see them standing up for their right to direct their own education. So I also stand with them; please let the Ramaz Politics Society host Professor Khalidi.

As an alumnus, I am really pleased to see current Ramaz students pressing this issue.

I was a student at Ramaz from 1988-1992 and also tried to bring a Palestinian speaker to the school through Americans for Peace Now. I remember having a meeting in 1991 with the administration who categorically denied the possibility of any Palestinian walking into the building, let alone speaking to students. I am heartened to see that a new generation of students are suggesting the possibility of dialog with Prof. Khalidi - a legendary scholar.

As a Jewish day school graduate, I am inspired to see Jewish high school students stand up for open discourse and the value of hearing different perspectives.

As someone who has also fought to encourage my Jewish community to consider different perspectives on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, I commend the work that RamPo and the signatories of this petition are doing.

Why a ban? What are they afaid of? I never understand these attempts to stifle mere talk. What bother? What's to fear?
