Its so sad how Ilkeston has lost so many shops over the years. Always visited Ilkeston once a week for shopping but now there are not many shops I use so I don't go as often.

Strongly in favour of this, I don't see how the town centre will recover without it

As a pensioner I feel that Bath Street would benifit by having a bus perhaps the 2 from Nottingham to come up Bath Street I have heard several comments from people in favour of this Most of us can walk down but struggle coming back up .Often then people go no further down than the bottom of the market

An article I wrote yesterday in relation to this. I would highly suggest anyone considering signing this petition reads this. :-)
"In the mid 1990s, long before I moved to Ilkeston, and in fact, before I was even born, the local council decided that the top of Bath Street would be pedestrianised. I don't know whether or not this was the right thing to do at the time; I have no idea how it was back then. What I do know is that it is very beneficial now. Despite the clear benefits from the lack of cars down the road, there are some who would prefer to spoil what is currently a rather nice high street. Maggie Throup, the Conservative who is also going for the Erewash seat in Parliament..."

Yes, reopen bath street to traffic, should never have been pedestrianised in the first place.
