We the undersigned welcome the Transport for London consultation on extending the Bakerloo Line to south-east London via Lewisham.

Transport infrastructure in south-east London is much weaker than the rest of London, and these plans will significantly help develop both the economy and

This would create a new southeast to northwest strategic route through the Capital, serving areas with poor transport accessibility and freeing up National Rail capacity at London Bridge for other service improvements

The Bakerloo line extension itself will improve the access to a number of deprived areas to a wider job market, aide regeneration and support economic development in some of the most deprived areas of London

Lewisham is a crucial gateway to Canary Wharf and between now and 2050 it is crucial that their is interchange at Lewisham with the DLR to support future expansion.

In July 2011, Network Rail published its Route Utilisation Strategy for London and the South East. This recommended an extension of the Bakerloo line from Elephant and Castle to Lewisham, where it would take over the line to Hayes and thus release capacity on National Rail lines into Charing Cross, and we feel the Mayor of London progress this recommendation as soon as possible.
