I wholeheartedly support this petition along CBAR's testimony and that of EBCA. The County Council must reject this Plan and ensure that it is considerably revised to protect edge areas, stage growth to ensure that infrastructure is in place, including parks and green space for active recreation.

I whole heartedly support this petition. It is extremely important that these recommendations are taken. The schools are already overcrowded and the area traffic is busy - but will only get much worse without considering this petition. The canyon effect of tall office buildings would completely ruin the attraction of Bethesda today.

Development in Bethesda must be carefully staged and planned to protect edge communities and the character of the area. Impacts on traffic, schools, and other infrastructure must be accurately evaluated and taken into account. The Bethesda Sector Plan as proposed will have an adverse impact on neighboring communities as well as on those living outside Bethesda that businesses seek to attract. The plan needs to be revised to reflect a vision of a future Bethesda that is attractive to residents and businesses alike, providing pleasant living and recreational space and preserving the character of the community as a bridge between urban DC downtown and suburban up-county areas.

It i s most important to keep the scale at a human level. Tall buildings cast shadows on residences that affect daily life. Shadows become permanent lack if sun or light and diminish not only pleasure but health. It is mandotory to keep the tall buildings away from family homes and to leave residents parking areas very much needed

I am VERY concerned about the negative impacts of some of these buildings on neighboring communities, as the petition points out. I definitely think that the Jaffe Tower at the southern entrance to Bethesda is way too too tall and flies in the face of the original plan to concentrate tall buildings close to Metro and taper the height down from there.
