Bethesda Downtown Sector Plan Recommendations

Although l don't live in Bethesda, l shop their, my doctors are there, and l sped a good bit of time at restaurants and cultural events in the area. I find it less and less appealing as it turns into a canyon. The traffic created by Walter Reed is appalling. Street parking is now $2.00 per hour . I'm finding it less and less appealing because it has become a inightmare to get around. Smart Growth has been anything but !

I have lived in the same house for over 50 years, but hardly go to Bethesda anymore, since it is so clogged and it is impossible to park. We tend to go upcounty instead when we go out to eat, shop, etc.

Please do not authorize additional building that does not ensure our roads and schools have the capacity to handle any additional residents that the building would allow for. Also, in order to maintain a healthy social fabric in our community, I urge you to ensure that any new buildings include affordable housing units.

I moved here 3 years ago in search of a walking/biking neighborhood. The reasons I moved are at risk The traffic is already horrendous! The way people deal with our narrow streets (when driving) is appalling! I plan to leave soon! The current plans for the "west" side of town are completely irresponsible!

Community not canyons is a catchy slogan but very real to us. And the roads cannot handle the additional traffic.

I believe in smart growth, but the excessive development planned along Wisconsin and downtown Bethesda will overwhelm already crowded streets. Many evenings, and increasingly in the mornings as well, Wisconsin is gridlocked. This problem extends from Bradley Lane to Cedar.

I avoid Bethesda most of the time. The ten years we have lived here the number of condos etc has increased as well as office buildings. Bethesda was charming and a relaxing place to be...... not so much anymore. It feels claustrophobic to me now!

Too much construction and not enough school space.

I am in support of the position taken by the Town of Chevy Chase and CBAR.

I strongly support scaling back the proposed development in Bethesda. Too much congestion for everyone, not just the neighborhoods.

My wife and I feel strongly that Bethesda is being ruined by overdevelopment allowed by the County Council and the Planning Board. It is time to take two big steps back, slow down this process and change the plan. Overdevelopment leads to overcrowded schools, highway congestion, which we are already experiencing, and a lessening of the quality of life.. Stop saying "yes" to developers and start saying "yes" to a continued quality of life for current residents.

The lack of foresight and yielding to commercial interests is appalling . The traffic is already a major problem and one can only imagine the gridlock we local residents will face when this horrific project is completed

Bethesda is being destroyed by traffic and no place to park. The red line is a mess. Too many "luxury apartments." Stop!

Stop all this crazy crowded building and destruction of open spaces.

Keep Bethesda livable -- the current plan would create a new Rosslyn - too crowded (people, housing, schools, cars . . . , and ugly as sin.

Anyone who argues that high density housing does not impact the crowding of schools is delusional. Families move to our area FOR the schools, and are willing to live in an apartment or condo, if a single family house is not affordable. Our schools are already too crowded! Please stop the excessive development in Bethesda!
