I am interested in getting a BA in Hawaiian language. I would like to get it on Maui. I have 2 children I raise by myself and I would need to go to school on Maui because it takes many years to get into affordable housing. My family only lives on Maui and it would be selfish for me to split my children up to live away from their family on Maui who they are very close to. Please if you could allow students from neighbor islands to take the courses to get a BA in Hawaiian language. My daughter is in Hawaiian Immersion and two years, she has been short a teacher to teach her in Hawaiian language. Hawaiian Immersion is growing fast and there is a shortage of teachers, especially on the neighbor islands and rural areas like Lahaina. So many children want to learn their culture and language, but the UH system is not supporting the community enough. Maui has the most students interested in Hawaiian Studies than any other island, and yet the highest the students can go is an associate degree in Hawaiian Studies. At least our our students to get a BA in Hawaiian language. Hawaii is so expensive. Why must me leave our island and get in massive student loan debt to earn a degree? Please work with us.

it makes no sense that we have to move to oahu just to finish the degree when the tech is already there. let us learn on our own islands.
