Years ago, Daylight Savings Time in Israel was brought in after the Passover holiday so that we could start the Seder at a normal time and ended just before Yom Kippur so that we did not have to fast during that extra hours of daylight.
In recent years, politicians have turned DST into a political issue and in doing so damage tens of thousands of Israelis who do not want this "extra" hour. The rationale that it saves electricity and lives is nonsense and unproven. We call on the government to act reasonably and in the best interests of the majority of Israelis (93% of whom attend Passover Seders that now must begin an hour later; 73% of whom fast on Yom Kippur).
Daylight Savings Time should not be a political decision. Return the timing back to what it was for decades. Begin it AFTER the Passover holidays and end it BEFORE Yom Kippur.
This would enable the large majority of citizens who celebrate Pesach, to have their children awake and involved in the seder. This is NOT only for the religious, but for the majority of Israeli citizens, including secular people, most of whom DO have a seder as well as children!
