My father is a graduate of this school and is a part of the almuni board. I am a proud supporter of #backtheblue and I work everyday with our fine men and women that wear the badge and protect us. I will sign this petition proudly for the USG and State of Georgia to acknowledge Officer Smarr, Officer Smith, and all fallen officers along with the renaming of the Hurricane Baseball field. ---Signed

My grandmother was head dietician at this school in the 1970's. Now my daughter is about to graduate in May. This will always be my home.

This was indeed a tragic event. The community could have exploded in a burst of violence and hatred. Yet, their deaths and this situation has gone in the opposite direction. The community is pulling together with everyday citizens of all races are wanting to work together to resolve issues. Americus has a large number of white and black citizens who are willing to do the work needed. Their deaths and circumstances leading to their deaths will always be known as a new beginning for the community. This is very powerful and deserves a special reminder and historical note of its beginning. Sporting events draw all citizens cheering together for victory! Please consider this as a decision is made.

This would be awesome!! I would like the memorial to be in a more public place like Reese Park, but that is just my thoughts.

These hero's gave their life for their community's protection, this is such a small gesture for what they gave.
