This is 100% in violation of a patient's rights. I do not not see how media can try and explain it any other way. Horrible situation and I feel there should be consequences to both PD department and hospital. This is why we have protocols in place .

My deepest support goes out to my dear friend Alan. I am rattled, shaken and in great disbelief at the injustice that took place.

Coming off my sub-I at Elmhurst and the number of patients I cared for countless people who were actively withdrawing. Never once could I imagine there being any indication to use potentially lethal force on a patient. This is story is sad and horrifying at the same time. We have a long way to go, and I hope the truth is found and justice is served. #blacklivesmatter

This is not right and we can not allow this happen anymore. Alan Pean is one of the most amazing and kind people I have ever met and I am shaken to core as a person and as a physician that this could have happened.
