Appalled and wondering what an off duty officer was doing with his weapon while in a hospital.

This is outrageous. There is no reason this young man should have been shot. Protocols should have been in place to address this. I pray for him and his family.

No reason for gun use in a hospital under any circumstances.

Thank you all so much for standing by brother. As a family with several healthcare professionals among us, we have been extremely disappointed by how powerless and vulnerable we have been made in a setting that is meant to empower and protect patients and their families. Thank you so much. We will keep you updated and please keep Alan in your prayers and thoughts.

I am shocked and saddened by this unacceptable use of force inside a healthcare facility. Hospitals should be a safe haven for all patients.

The use of weapons against a patient in a hospital is inexcusable, no matter the circumstances.

This is unacceptable given the resources to sedate PATIENTS while hospitalized.

as healthcare employees, we are passionate about caring for the lives that are entrusted to us. Upon entry into our support they should never fear, further injury, emotional or physical. We are trained to respond to those in mental or physical crisis. Protecting both the patient and medical personnel and others from harm.

it is appalling that hospital staff even carry guns, and would intervene in a lethal way in a place of healing

A truly appalling and disheartening continuation of the use of excessive force against unarmed individuals of color. What ever happened to our exhortations to first SO NO HARM? Our mission as healthcare providers is to be beneficial, never malfeasant, understanding, and protective of our patients and their families.
