This is an outrage. A disgusting abuse of power I am speechless.

Deplorable and inexcusable treatment of a patient.

The family deserve answees, for their love ones. And if there was any wrong doing, those who are responsible must be held accountable.

I am deeply saddened by the tragedy afflicted upon the Pean family.

Dear Sir/Madam I have been working as a physician for 30 years. I have practiced in 12 major hospitals including Mayo Clinic over the years. The patient population I take care of frequently includes disoriented and delirious patients. Each hospital has developed their own policies and procedures how to deal with agitated patients regardless of the reason whether it might be drug overdose, psycosis, metabolic or organic brain disorders etc. I have been punched by disoriented hallucinating patients only to control the patient so he would not harm himself. Medical professionals and personnel, whether they are working in security or not, need to be well educated and watch for the best interest of the patient. First prevent the patient harm himself and then improve his health for a quick recovery. I would consider it a disgrace for a hospital employee to shoot a patient in a city that provides one of the best healthcare in the world.

Any person who seeks care for a psychiatric illness deserves the same respect as one with a physical disease. To shoot a human being in cold blood because he is behaving in a way consistent with his diagnosis is barbaric and illegal. Charging the patient with any crime in this case is ludicrous. This kind of unconscionable use of force has to stop now.
