The council needs to take a strategic approach to parking in this area of teddington. Expansion of the university, construction of new houses and office blocks shouldn't be done in isolation of the associated impacts which include parking.

We are totally behind this cause - it is so disappointing that the Council has allowed this situation to escalate to such a point - with the expansion of St.Mary's University and new developments (both commercial and residential) only compounding the problem.

I totally agree we should support a request for a CPZ in Arlington Road. Nothing more frustrating when you cant park near your home and sometimes have to park several streets away.

The powers that be have permitted shops to expand, council offices to open and new homes to be created, plus the expansion of St Marys college....... And this has created havoc for us. With 2 small children I am often found walking 3-4 roads to get home. The council then has the cheek to refuse our claim for a CPZ on the basis that we would be displacing cars. Us??!!!!!! It's your developments!!!!! Help us now to resolve the issues

The CPZ is urgently needed in our road. Due to CPZ's in numerous other parts of Teddington Arlington Road has become the default parking area for office workers, commuters and in particular students. All residents of Teddington accept that parking is at a premium but it is not unreasonable to be able to park in the road in which you live.
Vehicles are regularly damaged due to the congestion in the road and drivers turning and reversing due to the lack of parking. There are often young children playing in what should be a quiet street, their safety is being compromised particularly with the speed of some non resident drivers in the road.
This issue is becoming critical and as such a CPZ must be considered a priority.

I support the request for a CPZ in Arlington Road and the surrounding roads. This is because it is difficult to park normally but impossible to park when the students are here. In addition, some non-residents that park in Arlington Road are not careful about the speed they drive or damage to other vehicles when they park / drive up and down the road.

With all the students and local trades people parking in our road the situation for parking has got so very bad. I find it very difficult to get parked in our road during the week and as a mum with a young baby this is most inconvenient to have to park in another road some distance from our home.

A controlled parking zone is essential.
Arlington road offers a very desirable cut through for students and local worker limited parking offered by companies including but not limited to the university causing severe displacement and significant challenges for all who live on Arlington road. The daytime between 10-3 being particularly challenging. CPZ in this area makes sense from a HSE perspective both for safety and environmentally. Teddington has excellent transport links and commuters should be encouraged to use them. Those not living on or nearby have a general disregard for residents leaving vechicle for long period and blocking he unofficial turning option at end of road.

Arlington Road needs a controlled parking zone, please accept this as my confirmation that I am 100% behind this. Due to the amount of non residents parking on the road from St Marys college. Also the recently built new offices and new residential buildings on Waldegrave Road being built without any parking has pushed them to Arlington Road. I have a small baby and toddler and cannot park on my road, I have to carry my children from other roads to my house because non residents are parking on my road. We must have controlled parking. During term time in particular parking can be impossible, which is had for pensioners like me, but much worse for eg mothers with young babies.

As a recent resident (without a car here full-time), I have been horrified to discover that I live in a car park rather than a residential road with properly managed parking. Hammersmith and Fulham council (where I previously lived) might have had their flaws but even they managed to organise proper thought through parking arrangements.

Some reasons for our need for a CPZ.
Displacement:
We have been displaced by students parking since council agreed to sports centre at uni at time of Olympics to house Chinese team, when they did away with the student parking on campus. Students frequently leave their vehicles in the road for days/weeks at a time. We were advised by a Councillor that the uni was obliged to put aside £130K to cover an area CPZ should there be resident complaints about student parking.
CPZ implemented in Waldegrave road and surrounding area to the high street has increased the number of commuters, students, residents and shop/office workers into Arlington Road.
Arlington road is particularly desirable for these group due to 'Arlington Passage' giving direct and short-cut access to Waldegrave road near the junction with Shacklegate Lane.
When we put forward the petitions, the council response has been we would displace cars, there seems to be a lack of clarity over where displacement begins and ends. Residents frequently have to park significant distances away from their homes which is especially difficult for parents/children and the elderly.
Health and safety issues as a result of congested parking in our cul de sac:
There is not an official turning circle at the end of the road which results in the need to reverse the length of the road increasing the safety issues, not least the repeated damage to residents' vehicles in what is an over-crowded no-through road.
Reversing out of road into Teddington Park Road is dangerous for both cars, passing bicycles and pedestrians, especially young children and the elderly.
Access for emergency vehicles is a problem.
Breakdown of infrastructure of Teddington:
Limited parking for nearby office workers (at Richmond Housing block there are 40-50 spaces for potentially c 500 stafff).
General desire to have commuters out of cars and onto public transport:
If the zone is is put in, then commuters will be encouraged to use

PLEASE take note of all the information we've given on numerous occasions to back up our urgent need for a Community Parking Zone. Life is hell for the residents - particularly those with young children and the elderly. And there are safety issues with emergency vehicles and access. This in addition to damage to residents vehicles in the over-crowded no-through road. It's often impossible to park in our road at any time of day as we are the parking lot for the university, local workers, building site workers and their vans. Students often leave their cars in the street for several weeks.

Residents are being disenfranchised of council facilities I.e. clearance of drains, easy access for emergency services due to excess student/others parking.
