It truly disgusts me to go to Avon High as a result of this careless decision, and I feel very sorry for the thousands of others who will have to suffer through the school system.

Although, we have no children in schools, I totally can support the notion that school district like Avon must be a "benchmark" in all aspects - academic as well as consideration of student welfare.

Richard, although I respect your perspective, we can not count your name without your last name and/or full address so that we can confirm your Avon residency. Thanks.

I hate to say the superintendent of schools has a major, domineering, attitude according to the teachers with whom I have spoke and should be replaced as soon as possible.
His attitude toward spending will result in excessive costs and tax increases. His attitude with respect to our teachers is abominable.

The social workers were a huge help to a lot of the people I know. It is an extremely senseless decision to get rid of them.

Agree that the process was not transparent.

Given the demographics of town of Avon, our school system should be ranked in the top 10 in the state, even after allowing for Fairfield County. Although my children have been out of school for a few years, it does dishearten me to witness the diminishment of a system we all took pride in.

This is pretty sad to read when comparing to the experience I had in the Avon School Systems. I loved every single part of it and it completely prepared me for college and law school. You cannot keep letting the high school fall down in rankings- it's pathetic.

come on Avon... You really need to step it up... If I wanted an incompetent town government and a wildly subpar school system I would just move to Canton.

Valerie, please remember to do diligent research on the candidates up for election/re-election this November. Not just on the Board of Education, but also on the Board of Finance. Extremely important to vote for the RIGHT candidate, not necessarily the one supported by your party, whichever that may be.

I am 100% on board with this even though I am not in need of social workers. I guess I need questions answered. What's there something wrong with the system for them to make a change? I am concerned regarding g the leadership and have not heard good things. I have a daughter going to the high school next year and just bought a new house here. The majority of people moved to this town or stayed, because of the school system and have paid top dollar for their homes. We do not want our property values to decline. These kind of actions by people who have their own agendas that need to be fulfilled, or whatever it may be, need to realize they may have a little power but can be easily replaced. Now more than ever, we need to all vote when time comes for change!
