This petition calls on the Welsh Government to replace the old concrete surface on the A40 road from Raglan to Abergavenny with whispering tarmac.

The Noise Action Plan (2013-18) states that this road is a priority, after the consultation responses received and the measurements taken.

Yet no progress has been made despite repeated calls from residents, the local County Councillor, Assembly Member and Member of Parliament.

We, the undersigned, state that this road should be given immediate priority, given the numerous concerns raised from both public and representatives and that it has been identified under the existing Welsh Government Noise Action Plan.

Seeing this grow makes the silence from the authorities even harder to swallow. I am exhausted by the constant delays but these names prove that I am not fighting alone. We keep pushing until they finally listen.

I live the closest to the a40 at The Bryn there is constant noise throughout the year but especially in the summer months. It is not a pleasure to sit in the garden when traffic is roaring past all day. We use the smaller front bedroom to escape the noise during the night.

Road noise dreadful 24/7. all day and every day. wind direction often makes it worse. Small fence would be ineffective, inappropriate and waste of money. Whole road need resurfacing in "whisper tarmac", and quickly

The road noise is horrendous and affects me all day and night. I have trouble sleeping at night due to the noise even with the double glazed windows closed. It is time to get the road resurfaced now as it is getting worse.

With the improvements to the heads of the valley road (A465) traffic volume is set to increase on the old concrete road increasing the road noise further. I also believe that the original expected life of the surface has been exceeded.

I have lived underneath a flight path of Heathrow airport as well as living very near to the A40. As such, I truly believe that the A40 is far more disturbing given the constant noise that it creates.

The road has been identified as a priority following a pan-Wales consultation. Given the strength of responses to the original consultation, and that this led to the road's inclusion in the action plan, this road need prioritisation for whispering tarmac. It is a noise as well as safety issue with many people noting the surface is particularly poor for towing vehicles.
