Since the summer residents have being hounding the local authority about the potential dangers of the A192 into Morpeth at Stobhill. In the summer i witnessed several near accidents involving children crossing the road.

Firstly there are 2 bus stops opposite each other which people use to catch buses from Stobhill Manor, the council have provided a new footpath at one side but have not provided a road island to cross between them, the A192 is a 60mph road at this point. Children, adults and OAP's are using these bus stops. Buses are also stopping directly opposite each other blocking a national speed limit road.

Secondly children are using gaps in the Hawthorne bushes from within Stobhill Manor to cross the A192, as its quicker to shortcut through than walk around the estate. Children are walking on a grass verge and popping through the hedge where traffic is travellling at 60mph. With the increase of 400 houses by Barratt the road will only get busier in terms of traffic and pedestrians.

We have tried to liase with the local councillors and express our concerns but it constantly falls on deaf ears. In my opinion they dont seem to want to try and either actively seek to install adequate road safety features or implement a sensible 30mph limit for what is a heavily populated area. I have a comprehensive email chain asking for something to be done, yet it still keeps falling on deaf ears. Many on the distribution list have not even had the courtesy to respond.
