Re: Petition in support of South Asian Broadcasting Corporation Inc.’s applications 2013-0885-9, 2013-0899-0, 2013-0896-6 and 2013-0902-1 as announced in Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2013-568- Notice of hearing January 27, 2014 Surrey, British Columbia.

We, the undersigned petitioners believe that 107.7 MHz in Surrey and 107.9 MHz in Abbotsford provide the best quality signal to rebroadcast CKYE-FM’s programming and will be the best use of these frequencies.  

RED FM’s signal has been compromised due to the HD IBOC transmissions from the USA radio station KISM Bellingham. 

In today’s technologically advanced times, we expect clarity in sound at a minimum, however RED FM’s signal suffers from severe distortion depending on the geographical area and makes it very difficult to listen to its programming. 

RED FM has the highest listenership because of its high quality local programming that has become part of our lives. They are committed to promoting local community initiatives and have brought the community together to raise funds for many charitable projects. 

We thank the CRTC for this opportunity to express our support for South Asian Broadcasting Corporation Inc.’s applications. In our view RED FM’s proposal to use 107.7 MHz and 107.9 MHz as rebroadcasting transmitters makes the best use of these public frequencies and request the CRTC to restore the signal of RED FM by grant these frequencies to RED FM.
