Finished my comm serv last year and still sitting at home unemployed while our hospitals are falling apart. Unfreeze these posts now.

4 doctors for 250 beds is criminal. we are burning out and the patients are the ones paying the price.

Oral hygienists play an extremely important role in maintaining oral health. They should get the opportunity to do community service as well. It is said there are no funding for them do to community service. However the community suffers at the end of the day.

Most Rural Hospitals do not have enough therapist, in the hospital im at we have one or two therapist if one is on leave or attending a meeting out of the institute the therapist left gets overworked and patients suffer if there is no therapist....I support this Petition

I am currently completing my comm serv at Ndwedwe CHC. It is located within a rural community and is a CHC which provides primary health care. I would love to stay at my current institution as a permanent OT as currently I am the only OT at my clinic. The permanent OT post was frozen in Dec 2016. This has posed a challenge for me as my OT department has to be closed whenever I attend outreach clinics, go on home visits, attend meetings or simply when I am on leave. This is an inconvience to my clients that are newly referred from our doctors so I would like to stay on to be permanent ensure that clients will always be provided a service. I have attended courses through out the year and I would love to utilize this knowledge to ensure that my clients receive the optimal intervention, for example ordering client specific wheelchairs which caters to their specific needs. I have built good rapports with all of my clients and I feel their attitude to therapy is positive due to the magnitude of our therapeutic relationship. It would be exhausting for a client to explain their history to a new therapist. Home visits are being done and the number of referrals are increasing so I would love to be a permanent OT to ensure that more home visits can be done while a therapist sees clients at the department. I would love to be permanent because I love where I work and I enjoy providing OT to the community of Ndwedwe. I think it is critical for a comm serv to be retained as aspects of written hand overs can be missed when a new comm serv has no permanent therapist to discuss matters with. In my situation, I had to constantly liaise with the physiotherapist and question her regarding my handover but her help was limited and this disturbs other therapists. I think it is critical to retain comm servs because we are always complaining of being short staffed and retaining a comm serv would solve this problem as there would always be a permanent constant to ensure ordering of items and
