To Hawaii Community Development Authority (HCDA) officials, I petition to support Work Force Housing development at 803 Waimanu that will provide approximtely 190 Work Force units. All units in the Development will be offered to people making less than 140% of Median Income. The proposed apartment building is 250 feet high structure, comprising a 20 story residential tower over 7.5-story parking podium. Under the current HCDA rules, Workforce Housing is allowed double Floor Area Ratio with which the proposed project complies. To achieve this, the applicant is allowed to ask for modifications (NOT variances) to pretty much all the rules, within reason of course. We need Work Force Housing in Honolulu, and I urge HCDA to make decisions that benefit the macro needs in Honolulu, but not only based on the opinions from the immediate neighbors.
