On April 23, 2024, the Veranda Gardens property manager emailed an amendment advising homeowners that an amendment had been recorded for the Veranda Gardens Homeowners Association.
The amendment, declaration 9.15, states: “Parcels that are located adjacent to a lake may keep and install hedges that do not exceed 5 feet in height. Parcels that are not located adjacent to a lake may keep and install hedges that do not exceed 8 feet in height.”
I disagree with the decision to enter this rule into the bylaws at this late stage and petition the builder to remove the amendment before turning over the community to the Veranda Gardens Homeowners Association in the coming weeks.

Seeing this level of support confirms that I am not the only one frustrated by these arbitrary rules for our backyards. The momentum is building and it proves that our neighbors deserve a say in how our community looks before the developer walks away.

I am against the five foot limit. I should be able to enjoy my pool without voyeurs.
This rule makes no sense. My neighbors are way too close and now I have no privacy in my own yard. Leave our hedges alone.
We have a long center view of the lake which an 8ft hedge would not obstruct anyone’s view.
Everyone is entitled to privacy. This is an item that does not need to be in the bylaws.
