In January of this year, I asked Mike Gordon via Twitter if he had ever considered using a 6-string bass on stage with Phish, to which he answered "no" (in typical Mike fashion!). However, there was a catch. He said if I could convince him to use one, he would! Think of all the possibilities! Mike could make better use of the higher tones of scales and modes of those scales in order to play more melodically, and with that even play solid in harmony with Trey's guitar or Page's keyboards. This really opens up a world of possibilities for Phish's sound as a group, and Mike's as an individual. Get Mike playing a 6 string!

The silence from the other side is heavy but I am still sending these messages out into the void. It is exhausting to keep pushing for something that seems so simple yet remains out of reach. I am not stopping this effort because the potential for that new sound is still worth the fight.
