Today, orangutans are only found on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. These Asian islands are constantly subjected to the deforestation of their rainforests. The rainforests are cleared to create palm oil plantations. We have a huge need for palm oil, as it is used in everything from hair care products to candy. However, some companies have partnered with the RSPO (Roundtable On Sustainable Palm Oil), and resolved to use sustainable palm oil. This means that the forests are reused. To help the orangutans, you should use products with sustainable palm oil or no palm oil at all. The rainforests are cleared using slash and burn techniques. Orangutans live in the treetops. If the rainforests are cut down, then they lose their habitats and die. The few who survive are eaten by predators, or worse they wander onto the palm oil plantations where they are tortured/raped/killed. You can go to our website to donate money to the Philadelphia Zoo to adopted an orangutan (you won’t actually receive an orangutan). Remember to spread this around town. The palm oil giants keep burning down these forests while orangutans are left with nowhere to go. I am reading your messages and the horror stories about these plantations are fueling my rage. We are just getting started pushing back against these corporations.

I had no idea it was used in so much candy. really opened my eyes. thanks for sharing this info
slash and burn is barbaric. companies need to be held accountable for their supply chains.
THESE POOR ANIMALS DESERVE BETTER. greed is destroying the planet.
its heartbreaking what these companies are doing just for cheap oil. stopped buying stuff with palm oil months ago and its not even that hard once you check the labels.
