In the latest Executive budget presented to the New York City Council, the Mayor proposed a 5-cent plastic bag "tax" (also called "Consumer Plastic Bag Use Fee") to generate an estimated $84 million. This petition calls on the City Council to vote NO on this proposal. The residents of New York City are tired of being nickel and dimed by government. There are ways to save $84 million in this budget and not create new fees and taxes. Join Alex Zablocki, candidate for NYC Public Advocate, in his fight against this new tax. http://www.alex2009.com
