we all been in the situation, when we upload a photo to 500px and got somewhere between 20-40 likes and after that, nothing.

so here the reason - when we upload a pic to 500px it going throw "fresh"-->"upcoming" then if "popular. so what the problem you ask?, after you crossed the "upcoming" category you going strait to the bottom of the "popular" list, so even if your picture is amazing, you would not get enough exposure to push it to the top of "popular".

so here my and many others suppose - make a new category between "popular" and "upcoming", call it whatever you want. and the pictures that pass the "upcoming" list will enter that. or either way, you can make the transition between "upcoming" to "popular" more slow(lets say from 94 pulse).
