Petition of Support for Mrs. Tanya Beverley
On behalf of the Sacramento community and those who have deeply engrained concerns for the education of all children, and families, we would like to put forth this petition as an endorsement for MRS. TANYA BEVERLEY. "To inspire each student to extraordinary achievement every day." This is the mission of Twin Rivers Unified School District. Mrs. Beverley has exemplified this in her service to students for her eleven year career in counseling. She began her work with this district with an understanding of the value and purpose of school. She has dedicated herself to building an environment where all students can learn and flourish. When a student enters Mrs. Beverley's office, they know that they are meeting with a person who will guide them through the often difficult school year. She applies humor, tough-love and most importantly, insight when she counsels students. Children in our community need caring, dynamic, responsible, knowledgeable, and professional educators. Families in our community need to know that they have a person to come to in times when that child, who is their student, hits roadblocks, needs to be turned in the right direction; maybe even picked up when they fall, guided back to a target for their goals-will be available to hear their needs. That person is, and should remain MRS. TANYA BEVERLEY. Oftentimes, school districts have to make decisions based on funding changes, or the lack of available funds-we understand that. Often, schools even have to close down some schools to make accommodations represent the total change in school populations, change comes to all things in our children's lives-we understand that also. We even understand that decisions have to be made for the greater good of all-honestly, we do understand all these things. What we do not understand is the utter disregard for providing a respectful, responsible release of an individual who has given more than the requirements, taken time for the students-above and beyond the call of duty, worked diligently along with their families to bring students to the best academic solutions which could be possible, one of two African-Americans on her campus and one of three African-American counselors in the district and then even give up time for her family in instances whenever duty called her to do so. That would be what we do not understand in this matter for the release of MRS. TANYA BEVERLEY. At a time where there is such a need for our public education system to stabilize, why are administrations of this school Foothill Farms Jr. High, making the issue of release of this counselor more than is necessary We need the administrators, the school board and others in such capacity to provide the children, families, and the supporters in the Sacramento community how we should accept and understand this. We are asking you to avoid making such a deleterious and grave decision on this regard to MRS. TANYA BEVERLEY. The child of our community need to have individuals of great character and professionalism such as is MRS. TANYA BEVERLEY to remain available to guide them to their futures.
