Abernathy has a reputation for high standards and quality education for students. As the parent of a soon-to-be third grader in Abernathy Elementary, I am concerned that there will be only 3 teachers for the many students that are going into 3rd grade. This will be their first year to take the TAKS test and more time and effort is likely required to prepare the students. We want the best education possible with more availability with the teacher. Please consider hiring an additional 3rd grade teacher to lessen the burden of a large classroom number. If you are also concerned and will sign this petition, I will deliver it to our superintendent and school board before spring break. We hope to make our officials aware of the need as soon as possible.
