Blackfish is only a starting point! We know that orcas live 60-80 years in the wild - why only 35 in captivity? We know that dorsal fin collapse is so rare and aberrant in the wild that it hasn't been widely studied yet - but why do 100% of captive male orcas exhibit this problem? Why do wild orcas die with mouths full of teeth, while captives wear their teeth down to nubs or have them drilled out? Did you know that Corky II had 7 calves, all of whom have died? Simply read the numbers of calves that have died within their first few years of life, or were stillborn. Read about a breeding program with mothers who routinely abandon their calves or literally become violent with them. Read about the rampant inbreeding (which killer whales naturally do everything they can to prevent). Their family units are artificial, and torn apart and rearranged as it suits "business needs" for the parks. These animals are second only to humans in their intelligence and capacity for social interaction. Captivity can never provide them with a fulfilling life. It's time to do the right thing for these animals. Do not support SeaWorlds, SeaQuariums, Marinelands, etc. Be part of the solution.
