I petition that all employers within a 30mile radius of a higher learning institution raise their pay to $1 more than minimum wage (and/or current wage). There are many students working part-time jobs as their only means of income. Many people quit school because once tuition is paid, they have no finances to live on. We can change that! Let's motivate them to stay in school by increasing the pay at local jobs near their school.

Totally agree. These local businesses rely on student workers anyway so they should pay them fairly. Rent around campus is a total joke.

Living off minimum wage while trying to pay for classes is impossible. I have friends who had to drop out completely because they couldn't afford rent and books. A dollar more would actually help us buy food.
