2nd Petition for investigation of Officer Marc Lofton, Statham Police Department

I feel that this officer's conduct, and the manner in which he handled this incident is unacceptable. If the individual has had prior sanctions, why is this department ignoring it?

I think the best way to jettison Lofton is to target Johnston and his other enablers - If THEY feel threatened by his behavior they are more likely to dump him.

I was arrested by mark lofton on two diffrent occasions. Both og witch arr complete crap. One was for a DUI witch he said I refused the blood test. But if you watch the dash cam video you can clearly hear me say two times that I will take the states blood test. It has cost me my licence sience February. And not only my licence but my whole way of life.

The citizens of Statham met with Brad Smith for 2 hours on December 8th. While he was supposed to disclose to us the findings of his investigation of Lofton and the Statham PD, he maintained an attitude of ignorance regarding all of these allegations of wrong doing. He emitted that he was not familiar with the 2 inch thick stack of case documents that we had presented to him multiple times. When asked to write a formal complaint to GA POST about Lofton, his exact response was "I'll look into that" Of course he hadn't looked into anything regarding Lofton and his Department and that is why he had no statement of his findings from his investigation. After 1 1/2 hours of getting no more than dumb looks and feigned surprise from Mr Smith, we finally brought out the DUI arrest ( and consequential case dismissal) of Lofton's wife last year. Well he knew a little about that. But as the person sitting at the table right next to him - to me- his shaking hands said more to me than his words.

Brad Smith needs to get off his ass and have this criminal cop arrested. The corruption is obvious. Get it done brad.Are you the law Or the corruption?

I watched the entire traffic stop and believe the officer should be investigated for false arrest and harassment. He should be suspended at the minimum.

With the controversy surrounding 63 DUI arrests made by officer Marc Lofton in the past year, you could imagine people were outraged to learn that Winder Police charged Lofton’s wife last year with DUI. She blew a .204 on a breathalyzer test which is more than double the legal limit, but in August of this year, her case was dismissed. “She’s married to a police officer and all of a sudden she’s not going to jail and she’s not getting prosecuted, but everyone else in our county and in this city is getting prosecuted for the same offenses and even less,” Statham resident Kendra Moore said. Lofton is the talk of the town in Statham. The Barrow County District Attorney is investigating complaints which accuse him of policing for profit. “I’m simply tired of these innocent people and these citizen’s lives being ruined by an officer and apparently by a department that is strictly trying to gain money from it,” Moore said. Chief Johnston should also be investigated. Sounds to me he is the true source of the problem - enabling lofton and attempting to protect him. Could be a departmental problem.

Abuse of power, this man should not be in law enforcement. He should be behind bars for violating these people's right.
