POLICY ON THOSE REACHING AGE 21

(DeMolay International Rules & Regulations 208.3)

Jursidiction and Division officers may remain in office following their twenty-first birthday
BUT
All other Chapter (except Scribe) Officers must relinquish their office upon reaching their twenty-first birthday.

THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED

We want to allow Elected Chapter Officers to remain in office following their twenty-first birthday so they can finish out their term.

Chapters are the core of DeMolay. They should not be held to a different standard than Jurisdiction or Division.

If you think about it, a Chapter term is only six months, so realistically you are only granting at most 5 more months of a DeMolay career, where in Division or Jurisdiction this could effectively be up to 11 months. All DeMolay starts at the Chapter level and without it there would not be a Division or Jurisdiction level, so it is unjust to not have this provision on the Chapter level.

Please do the right thing our brothers and sign before June 20, 2012 so this can be taken to the DeMolay International Congress in Kentucky. We want this change to take effect immediately.

Sincerely,

Roseville DeMolay

Roseville, California

P.S. In the comments section, please list your chapter name, city, and state or province.
