As many of you know, the School Board has been considering ways to help the district deal with the significant budget cuts, including a resolution to reduce the TTUSD classroom teaching staff. The board is planning on voting on this resolution March 4th at the Board Budget workshop. The current winter storms and family obligations might prevent you from attending the board workshop on Wednesday but we would like to provide those of you who wish to do so with an opportunity to let your voice be heard. Any Parent Teacher Organization seeks to engage parents, teachers and the community as we all work to create the best possible learning environment and educational experience for our kids. If you feel like K-3 class size reduction is too valuable to let go, we have created this online petition so that the wishes of parents, teachers and community members can be shared with the board tomorrow, prior to their vote on the resolution. To the TTUSD Board: We, concerned parents, teachers and community members, are asking you to preserve 20:1 K-3 class-size ratios to maintain the maximum levels of CSR funding. While we appreciate the difficulty in finding actionable solutions to resolve the projected school district budget shortfall, consider student needs and your stated board goals; please find a way to keep our class-size ratios low, especially for grades K-3. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. Sincerely, [The Undersigned]
