20mph zone on A283 Storrington

Just moved into the area and totally agree that the speed of traffic in and out of Storrington needs to be addressed.

Speed restrictions should start further out of the village. Possibly at Sussex Downtown the east, the duck pond to the west and Newtown Road to the south. A 15 mph limit would also be welcome in Meadowside and Browns Lane.

Any contribution to slowing traffic in and around the village centre would be welcomed. I do feel a speed camera is needed going in and out of Storrington on all roads would help, as I dont feel a speed limit reduction will make alot of difference. If motorists are hit in their pocket, it will make them think twice about speeding. Also need to reduce the amount of lorries

In full agreement but don't think it will make a difference as vehicles don't keep to 30 now. A camera is needed.

I live in Chantry Close and trying to cross the A283 from Chantry Lane to Nightingale Lane is very difficult. Once crossed the pavement is narrow, not helped by overhanging bushes and trees. When you arrive at the mini roundabout even narrower pavement and lorries mount the small amount of pavement available to manoeuvre the roundabout.

It is very dangerous and it is an accident waiting to happen. The traffic also races down Manleys Hill making it very hard to get out of Meadowside

To minimise emissions when traffic is slowing down to low speed, 20mph zone should begin further to the east beyond the junction with Meadowside

Speed reduction and traffic calming would be a big improvement

I use that route almost daily and I have witnessed Incidents of vehicles travelling at speeds in excess of 30mph appear to be on the rise down this stretch from Fryern Road down to the Mini Roundabout by the Vintage Rose Cafe. I was even over taken by a small White Van going down the hill, which then had to brake hard by the Car Park entrance. May I suggest that perhaps a stint of the Traffic Speed Observers placed at or around the Fire Station outside of Rush hour would be an opportunity to capture some data.

The wonky pavement before the art shop is a nightmare and dangerous with a buggy or wheelchair. Not to mention the over grown hedge also that eats up most the pathway past meadowside. There definitely needs to be a speed camera. Also the speed camera guys seem to always operate on the opposite side of the road and that isn’t the issue.

Used to walk this regularly. Very scary when huge vehicles came past.

Father in law regularly works this route aged 92....

I have had ma y near misses coming home to Hanover Walk. Cars and work vans flying down meadowside onto Browns Lane. There will be a nasty incident soon either the elderly or middies going to school

A dangerous walk on a busy road into Storrington

It is far too narrow for pedestrians there and there is a high volume of traffic, a lot of it HGV, thundering through. Let’s try and prevent a nasty accident!

I also have walked along this pavement and only just avoided being hit by the wing mirrors of a van. It is very dangerous walking along this stretch of pavement.

My parents were resident of Foxmead Court, my father had to stop walking into Storrington as the road & pavement were so dangerous.

Traffic currently drives at dangerous speeds along this road. Reduce speed limit & or erect a camera.
