The university has officially moved to a pass/fail system for this semester. This outcome belongs entirely to the hundreds of you who spoke up when things felt uncertain. I am just in shock that we actually managed to get here together.

Final supporters
As a student at the University of Indianapolis speaking for myself and other students enrolled, we ask that grades in our courses be transitioned to pass/fail. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak which has affected us on a global scale, students and faculty are forced to finish the second semester of the 2019-2020 academic school year online. Students are unable to use the resources the university had offered in the past, during a normal semester, such as face to face office hours and the library writing lab. Because of the crisis at hand professors should not be able to give students failing grades for their work which they have completed to their best ability considering the circumstances.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have signed this because I never imagined it would reach so many people. If we can get a few more people to look at this page today we might reach that first hundred signatures much sooner than I expected.

Most of our classes were hands on now that we have changed to this online version we are getting higher work loads then we would at school and with all the money we paid for this semester for housing and food our professors aren’t even able to help us with the lack of communication A few of us have to continue to work full time jobs still to even afford to pay for our attendance at the university. Please take all of the above into consideration.
I am from out of state and all of my books are still at school because I did not bring them home for Spring break. I fully support the idea of a pass fail system.
Harvard’s doing it, they recognize that we’re going through a huge transition and it’s hard to cope with and figure everything out at once so why should our grade’s suffer from something that we cannot control?
I agree, I am someone who benefits from from office hours with my professors and using the library, and also tutors, this has affected me tremendously. It is fair to pass students because we are working hard with a new system neither us nor teachers are comfortable with.
As an elementary education student, having online classes is totally unfair. Usually our curriculum is structured to go to elementary schools and teach kids BUT we are unable able to do this and are still being required to "teach" remotely. WE DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS! This is nothing compared to what I would be learning in-person and we deserve better because if we had a choice we would choose IN PERSON CLASSES and for COVID 19 TO GO AWAY!
I avoid online school at all cost because it’s detrimental to my learning style, thought process, and grades. I know it can’t be helped, but still.
I have a really hard time learning in only online classes. This sounds like a great solution considering what is going on in the world.

I think it’s unfair to the kids that have adult responsibilities at home that they have to take care of their families on top of school work. Uindy do the right thing..
