I urge FISD to re-evaluate the one time/temporary assignments that are being put forward to the community. While it may have seemed like a good idea in a planning meeting the real life impact on those being subjected to it should be now taken into consideration. We as a community have prided itself on the proactiveness and forward-thinking of FISD. Let's not throw that all away now!

We should not set this precedent of building schools for future projected growth and moving our children as temporary placeholders.

Here is a Solution: FISD is using rezoning principles/guidelines that were developed more than 20-years ago! If the rezoning principles/guidelines were changed other possible solutions would emerge (i.e. permit 6A reclassification for short-term durations, rezoning process would not have to occur ever year, and there would be no temporary rezoning, etc.) Please join me in urging FISD to quit looking at outdated rezoning methodology that is based on philosophies that were established more than 20 years ago. It is time FISD CHANGED THE REZONING PRINCIPLES used to develop their rezoning models! Believe me all this issue of Temporary Rezoning would go away!!!

Forcing a temporary solution for a group of students to facilitate a numbers game is inadequate planning and void of any sociological thought long term for the students affected. Creating a different High School experience for a targeted population while breaking up siblings amongst schools doesn’t support a unified community and reduces the credibility of the FISD mission statement.
